We had 2 heating companies come out. These models were possibilities they mentioned, at various prices. Which is best furnace for the money and quality? TRANE XL80, Carrier Infinity 96 Gas Furnace, Carrier Infinity 80 Gas Furnace, or the Carrier Comfort 80 Gas Furnace?
We will choose one of these and need insight. Thanks!

I think the numbers stand for efficiency – how much heat per dollar of gas. Since natural gas can jump a lot in price, a higher efficiency insulates you from price jumps. However, the cost of the unit is often so much more that it would take you 10 years to recover it from the gas saved.
Carrier and Trane are both excellent manufacturers that I would trust. Most homes have an efficiency of 80. Maybe look at Consumer Reports to see how they rate repairs and reliability?
look at the line of Rheem/Rudd furnaces I am a hvac tech for 37 yrs and have found Rheem to hold up better after the newness of the 3 brands is over. do it once and get it done right
The most important factor is one you have not mentioned. The unit is only going to be a good as the company and installer you choose. The most important day of your new furnace’s life is the day it’s installed. Most major companies have similar warranty and service provisions and many offer extended warranties and service contracts at additional cost. The cost of all is negotiable. Bargain well. Check the reputation of the companies you are considering with the Better Business Bureau (www.cityname.bbb.org) and ask for references you can contact directly. As for a specific brand, I’d balance the cost versus the reputation of the dealer, etc.
Nothing crashes like a trane, carrier right out the door, rheemed again,
trampstar, etc..etc.. Exactly what Jim S said. Go for the company who drug test their employees does criminal background checks, has 24 hour service, has reasonable maintenance agreements, respects your home and your family and has the kind of warranties and guarantees that will put your comfort first.
