What is the average cost for a high efficiency gas furnace?

I am looking at the 90 & 95 rated Trane units. I am fairly certain it is smaller unit, 3 ton.

Any ideas?

matt m January 8, 2010 at 3:49 pm: Looking at the data from ServiceMagic, it looks like the average cost to install a furnace is $5,252.
The most expensive furnace install project was $23,500 and the least expensive was $3,000. Over half of all the projects fell in the $5,000-$7,000 range.

Keep two things in mind on these figures. One, is that the data doesn’t reveal the size or the energy rating of the furnaces. Two, these figures are aggregate from across the country, so you might dial these averages up or down depending on the cost of living where you call home.

Rondi January 11, 2010 at 9:57 pm: We installed a new furnace last year. Product name Goodman. Our gas bill cut in half. We had 2 bids…..$2700 (Goodman) and $4500 (Rheem). We took the $2700 and are very happy.
Kevin H January 13, 2010 at 7:04 am: Depends on what part of the country you live in. Look to see how many burners you have on your furnace. Each burner is roughly 20,000 BTU’s. Sounds like you need an 80,000 BTU furnace with 3 ton drive.
Here in GA you can have a 90% 80K BTU Trane Furnace installed for around $2800-$3000. This would only include the furnace and new PVC flue ran, no extras like a high efficient air cleaner(fancy name for a good filter)
Trane is a great choice BTW.
