Good luck. I tried that myself and couldn’t even get a friend who was a local contractor to help me with Carrier. My brother is a heating guy and he told me that Trane also has an offshoot label called American Standard (I think) that is very similar. And also very good. Look at Consumers’ Reports for recommendations. American Standard is available at some plumbing supply stores. Where are you located? I have a resource in CA.

As mentioned you should be able to buy American Standard. As far as Trane and Carrier, if the local distributor is close, just drive up and pull your credit card out, they may take your money after all. Do yourself a favor and Yahoo “CO Poisoning” before you become a weekend heat warrior; people die doing dumb things. If you can’t afford a proffesional install just get some financing.
